Paul Joseph Banfield, known professionally as P. Kwiva, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer based out of San Pedro, California. P. Kwiva composes a variety of genres and musical styles such as Rock, Hip Hop, and Electronic Dance Music. P. Kwiva began taking guitar and piano lessons at the age of 12, which was his first introduction to playing musical instruments. Throughout high school, he often engaged in freestyle rap sessions with his friends and jam sessions with various rock bands and jazz bands he partnered with. After graduating high school, he studied music theory and electronic music production at El Camino College which broadened his appreciation for music and helped him learn how to compose and read music. P. Kwiva recorded and released his debut album "Subordinate" in 2006. The album was recorded using the most basic, affordable equipment possible, and therefore has an imperfect, lo-fi sound. It was P. Kwiva's first attempt at recording his own music in his home studio. He played all the instruments on the album (guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums, and vocals), and his method was to record each instrument separately, then layer all the parts together. He experimented with several genres in the album, such as melodic death metal, alternative rock and indie rock. P. Kwiva released his second studio album, "Never Ending Techno" in 2008. Recording sessions took place during 2007 to 2008. The album was a departure from P. Kwiva's original musical style in his first studio album, "Subordinate" which was a rock album. "Never Ending Techno" was his first venture into more electronic genres. Inspired by famous DJ's of the time, he wanted to produce an album that had the same feel of a live DJ set, where a variety of tracks are blended together to create continuous music with no pauses or breaks in between tracks. Also featured on the album are electronic remixes of three previously recorded tracks, "When Eyes Collide", "Apparatus", and "Hanger On" which were taken from P. Kwiva's first album, "Subordinate". P. Kwiva released his third studio album, "So Low" in 2010. Recording sessions took place during 2008 to 2009. Inspired by hip-hop, R&B, and electronica, "So Low" marked a departure from the alternative rock and industrial sounds of his previous releases. He developed a more urban style of composing rap songs that would expand his musical repertoire and help to reach a wider audience. P. Kwiva utilized layered synthesizers in his productions and experimented with electronics while sampling from a broader variety of sounds and altering his entire approach to sound engineering. P. Kwiva released his fourth studio album, "I Survived 2012" on December 21, 2012. Recording sessions took place during 2011 to 2012. The album showcases P. Kwiva's personalized style of composing dubstep songs which gained recognition from the electronic dance music scene. The album highlights P. Kwiva's growth as he incorporated styles from his previous releases into his newer productions while also developing his production techniques. P. Kwiva uses the alternate alias, "nobodyhasthisyet" for his video subject matter. He is an avid YouTuber and gamer, and his YouTube channel mainly features gameplay videos and tutorials from popular video games. He has also published several projects involving video editing and graphic design. P. Kwiva currently records, produces, and distributes music using his own independent, self-titled record label.
