María Medina is the artistic name of a Mexican singer and guitarist born in Mérida, Yucatán, on May 19, 1954, as Gladys Josefina Medina Hadad, winner of the OTI Festival of Song in 1983, with a theme of Amparo Rubín, Compass of wait. In 1984 she was rewarded, then with the Guty Cárdenas Medal and shortly thereafter with El Heraldo for Best Singer of the Year. At the age of five he participated for the first time as a singer in a school festival of his native Mérida, capital of the state of Yucatan, in Mexico. When he was seven years old, he traveled to Mexico City to participate in a Televisa program called Estrellas Infantiles. In 1973 he moved to Mexico City to start his artistic career. In 1974 he was professionally presented by Pedro Vargas in the delivery of Los Heraldos de México, entering in that event the artistic world as La Voz del Heraldo 1974. Throughout his almost forty years of artistic career he has participated in numerous television programs, musical competitions and individual and collective presentations, sharing credits with Mexican and international singers. In 1983, she won first place in the OTI Festival and in 1984 she was awarded the Guty Cárdenas Medal and El Heraldo for Best Singer of the Year. He has also created an extensive discography both in Mexico and in the Spanish-speaking artistic world.
