Manuel Acuña (3)

Mexican poet. He was born in Saltillo, Coahuila, in 1849 and died in Mexico City in 1873. He studied at the Colegio Josefino and then at San Ildefonso. He studied medicine. He founded the Nezahualcóyotl Literary Society. He belonged to the Liceo Mexicano. The poet of the Ignacio Manuel Altamirano group. His suicide, at the age of 24, made a great impression in literary circles. 'Nocturno a Rosario' is the last poem by Manuel Acuña, dedicated to his impossible love: Rosario de la Peña y Llerena. Manuel Acuña Narro is one of the greatest representatives of Mexican literature of the romantic period; he is not only recognized for his poems and writings that enriched the lyrical culture of Mexico.
