Simone Seiler is a German harpist from Freiburg, soloist in the Philharmonisches Orchester Hagen since Sept 2005 and a co-founder of Duo Imaginaire. She studied with prominent European professors, such as Gisèle Herbet in Würzburg, Rennie Yamahata in Trossingen and Jana Boušková in Brussels before completing her final concert exam with Professor Godelieve Schrama at Hochschule für Musik Detmold. She has performed under the baton of many internationally recognized conductors, including Lorin Maazel, Roger Norrington, Stefan Blunier, Heinz Holliger, Yakov Kreizberg, Andrey Boreyko, Daniel Harding and Lothar Zagrosek. Seiler has won several prizes and became a finalist at various notable competitions, such as the 2002 Franz-Josef-Reinl-Stiftung International Competition in Vienna, German Harp Competition, and Félix Godefroid International Competition '03 in Namur, Belgium. In 2007, Seiler performed live at a small café on the Place Fernand Cocq in the district of Ixelles, Brussels in a fairly unconventional duet with clarinetist John Corbett (2), and afterward, two musicians decided to further develop and establish these two instruments as a duo in the concert environment. Such composers as Andrew Digby, Gordon Kampe, Manfred Stahnke, James Wishart, and Frido ter Beek were among the first to write works specifically for Duo Imaginaire.
