David Moran has been an editor and writer for many decades. At Brandeis (BA) he studied reviewing and history of performance criticism with Louis Kronenberger and Caldwell Titcomb, and afterward with Michael Steinberg and other classical critics and musicologist writers under two NEA grants. He has an MA in literature from Columbia. He has particular interest in music, audio, and technology, and has written about music (and other arts) for the Boston Globe, Phoenix, Herald, Stereo Review, and the Boston Audio Society Speaker. Moran has tested speakers for CD Review, Digital Audio, Speaker Builder, Car Stereo Review, Sensible Sound, and currently for the BASS and LinearAudio. He also has annotated and co-produced CDs, notably the Heiller at Harvard set, and helped edit Ted Libbey’s NPR Listeners’ Encyclopedia of Classical Music. He has played piano since childhood, sang as an adolescent under Robert Shaw, and currently is lazily working through pieces of Schubert, Brahms, Bach, and a modern rag by Frank French.
