Yukiko Ogura (2)

Japanese classical violist. Born in Nara. Having studied the violin at Kyoto City University of Arts, she won a position as a member of the Kobe City Chamber Orchestra. She received her bachelor's degree in 1995. She eventually gave up the violin completely in order to study the viola in Tokyo. She emigrated to Chicago, IL, USA in 2000 and became the violist of the Eusia String Quartet. In May 2001, she was appointed a member of The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She joined the Philharmonia Orchestra in 2015 as Principal Viola.
