David Sykut, a Pittsburgh based recording, mixing, and mastering engineer, production manager, and educator. His recordings have been heard on WQED-FM, Pittsburgh, and a number of recording labels, featuring artist like Apollo’s Fire, Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, and members of the esteemed Pittsburgh Philharmonic. Equally at home in rock and blues, he’s served as producer and engineer for the likes of Tyler Stacy, Dante Romito, and Paolo Schianchi, Working Breed, DiGreggorio, Jack's Shadow, and Brewer's Row. David has forged close partnerships with industry leaders such as Rupert Neve Designs, Grace Designs, sE Electronics, Earthworks, Telefunken USA, and Aston Microphones. He currently serves as Audio Engineer and Production Manager for MCG Jazz. Working for this renowned record label and concert venue is allowing him to advance his skills under the tutelage of five-time Grammy Award Winning Producers and Engineers. Recent performances have included the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, Monty Alexander, Larry Carlton, Paquito D’Rivera, Jean Luc Ponty, Gloria Reuben, Poncho Sanchez, and Bria Skonberg. An active member of the Audio Engineering Society, he has presented masterclasses and workshops on topics ranging from live sound basics to on-location recording. He has been a guest lecturer at Ohio University’s student workshops. David consults with high schools and community arts programs to design intern training programs for aspiring sound technicians. He is on faculty at the Community College of Allegheny County, where has authored and piloted curriculum in audio engineering and music business. He is especially proud to collaborate with the YMCA Lighthouse Project and My Brother’s Keeper Digital Literacy Collaborative via the “College Tech Connect” initiative, offering a grant funded college experience to minority students with an interest in music production.
