Lexemes was an American instrumental heavy metal/atmospheric noise solo project formed in 2005 while in San Diego and relocated to southern Maine in 2016. As of Dec. 22, 2020, the project is on permanent hiatus. Exotic soundscapes are painted with near-brutal audio frequencies designed to evoke both a physical and emotional response from listeners. Lexemes has crafted a bleak ambient portrait of madness, with each composition rooted firmly in equal parts self-deprecation and moral decomposition. Drawing inspiration from bands like Nocturnal Emissions, The Jesus Lizard, Christdriver, and Mütiilation, the music has evolved into a unique blend of instrumental noise and ambient metal.
