German hip-hop producer from Hanover, Lower Saxony, Federal Republic of Germany. Formerly known as Joolz Justice, Clockwerk became well known in production circles for his abilty to perform on the MPC live. Using the sampler/sequencer as an instrument, performing with live pad play, he is currently sponsored by Akai, Ableton and Subpac. Active since 1994, when he first made contact with an EMu Esi32 sampler, Clockwerk began his journey in mastering the craft of making beats. After 14 years of working in studios, releasing a total of 9 albums independently altogether, recording with a multitude of ambitious artists from Europe and the United States. He then started seeking out more creative ways to express himself musically apart from simply recording tracks. In 2008 while experimenting with different types of studio equipment, he rediscovered the MPC; a sampler and drum machine similar to the device that made him fall in love with beatmaking in the first place. With a desire to leave the studio behind and to discover new terrain performing live music, he began to sharpen his fingerdrumming skills with sounds he had created daily over the past decade. The more he played the more it became clear to him that this would be his weapon of choice on his mission to become a live performer on the cutting edge of innovation in his craft. The dark ambient style he had developed in the 90's was successfully resurrected in his unique style of drumming out beats with the 16 pads on his device. Henceforth Clockwerk was born and in 2012 he let his craft loose on the public. He has since performed at a variety of concerts and festivals across Europe. Showing up to prove his skills at any given opportunity, he has since established a permanent place for himself in the musical landscape, inspiring a wide range of producers by his new and innovative approach to live beat making in the process.
