New Jersey-based DJ and producer. Ran Wake Up Records (5). Camacho started DJing in 1970, playing major East Coast clubs such as Paradisio, Bond International and the Red Parrot. In 1986, he launched Big Apple night Wild Pitch alongside DJs Greg Daye, Nick Jones and Bobby Konders to huge acclaim; and by the end of the same decade was being regularly booked in Britain as part of the original house music revolution there. Camacho played Ministry Of Sound’s very first party and, in turn, a long string of dates for The Loft (alongside Paul "Trouble" Anderson), Back To Basics, Hard Times and Bobbi & Steve’s Garage City. His most memorable studio credits include remixes of Dee Dee Brave’s My My Lover (alongside Kerri Chandler) and Michael Watford’s So Into You as well as solo cuts for Shelter (Renegade), Phuture Trax (Macho Camacho EP) and Nu Groove (The Camacho EP). Camacho died on 9 July 2011 following a lengthy battle with severe diabetes and hypertension. He had been in and out of hospital ever since 2007, following a series of diabetic and cardiac attacks, and subsequent complications. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
