Bengt Andersson (13)

Swedish jazz harmonica player, painter and band leader from Råssbyn, born 1931, died 2008-10-24. Since 1997 he has been the leader of groups with preferentially younger musicians. Many of these have become prominent in Swedish jazz and also internationally. Raymond Karlsson, Tommy Kotter, Per-Ola Gadd, Ulf Bandgren, Lars Andersson, Stefan Bellnäs, Kent Helgesen are some of Bengt's groups. He has done extensive tours and recorded two LPs in the 80s, "Vackert Väder" and "Pictures", and during the 90s a CD with, among other things. with Torbjörn Gulz and son Lars, "My musical landscape". Played at lots of festivals and many times on jazz's national scene "Fasching". Two CDs have been recorded by the current quartet, "The Painter's Dance" and "BAQ in Stockholm". Bengt has been awarded two cultural awards; Uddevalla City Culture Award and Sparbanken Väst, for their efforts with young musicians.
