Sebeare (Sabeare) from Oosterend - near Bolsward ( fryslan The netherlands ) - was founded in 1992 as a cover trio and quickly grew into a five-piece formation. In 1995 two brass players were added. From 1996 onwards the group produced its own songs in Frisian. Sebeare's music is sometimes called fanfare pop. The group broke through after winning the Liet festival in 1997 with the song Te folle foar dy. In April 2004 the band was the support act for Bløf in Heerenveen. Karst Kooistra played on bass at the Liet festival in '97. Furthermore, André Posthuma (piano) and Johan Spoelstra (timpani) also played. Sebeare consisted of Folkert Rients Vellinga (vocals), Mennald van der Eems (guitar and trombone), Jan Jetze Brouwer (guitar and vocals), Peter Haanstra (trombone), Johannes Dijkstra (trumpet), Henk Wetting (bass guitar) and Rindert van der Eems (drums and vocals). Vellinga and Van der Eems left the band. Their places were taken - in early 2004 - by Auke Bootsma (vocals) and Hendrik Talsma (keyboards). Sebeare also reached the final of Liet 2013 with Ferlitten. In 2017, Sebeare will perform during Aaipop.
