Fusing 60s garage pop, 70s NY rhythms, 80s LA energy, and 90s post-punk hooks, The Downstrokes play four-on-the-floor rock n roll. On their debut album, New York Girl, they explored their influences from the Kinks and the Patti Smith Group to the Adolescents and the Pixies. On their 2019 E.P from Snubbed Records, they dared listeners to FALL IN LOVE WITH PUNK ROCK AGAIN. Shaking off the virus, the band released the full-length album UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED (Coffin Curse Records), which was named one of The Big Takeover Magazine's 50 best records of 2021. 2023's full-length album THIS CLOSE TO VERTIGO (Coffin Curse/Allegedly Records) includes ten high energy rockers with traces of the Ramones, The Replacements, Thin Lizzy, and D Generation in their DNA. Mastered by legendary punk producer (The Queers, Screeching Weasel) Mass Giorgini and featuring new member Kyle Wagoner (Drums/Vocals) alongside Gerry LaFemina (Vocals/Guitar), Robin Summerfield (Guitar/Vocals), and Greg Wood (Bass/Vocals), the album starts with a drum barrage from Wagoner on "Kaput," looks at the lives of "Go Nowhere Kids," rips like a tornado through "Downtown Queen City," and takes us on a ride in "A Flying Metal Deathtrap." The first single is a fresh recording of "UFO Baby" with a video by PJ. Sykes.
