Gwen Ffrangcon-Davies

British actress and soprano vocalist Ffrangcon-Davies' career spanned eight decades, from her stage debut in 1911 to her final acting appearance at the age of of 100 in an episode of "The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes" called "The Master Blackmailer", which was filmed in 1991. The same year, six months before her death, she was created a Dame Commander of the British Empire. She was the oldest-ever appointee to that honor until fellow actress Olivia de Havilland received her damehood in 2017.
