The Beastie Boys created The Milarepa Fund with royalty money from two songs from their fourth LP "Ill Communication" in May 1994. Milarepa began as a foundation through which the Beastie Boys could give grants and support the Tibetan cause, and soon became a fully operational organization setting up events like the Tibetan Freedom Concerts.
