Ivar Hellman

Swedish conductor and composer, born January 20, 1891, in Norrköping, dead, February 19, 1994, in Stockholm. He graduated as an organist and church singer at the Conservatory of Music in Stockholm and also studied at Sondershausen. He co-founded the Norrköping Orchestra Association and was its leader 1913-28. After that he was conductor at the then Radio Service 1928-56. Among other things, he composed Kungamarsch (first prize at King Gustaf V's 80th birthday). He was elected in 1917 as an associate of the Royal Academy of Music and in 1971 became a member of it.
