Dutch (Church) Organ Player. Born: 1946 - Holland His daughter is the violinist Janine Jansen, his son the cellist Maarten Jansen. The Dutch organist and harpsichordist, Jan Jansen, studied at the Utrecht Conservatory: organ with Cor Kee, piano with Gérard van Blerck and harpsichord with Lenie van der Lee. In 1970 he won the Prix d'Excellence for organ. Since 1987 Jan Jansen has been organist of the Domkerk in Utrecht, where he was occupied with the busy liturgical practice and became nationally renowned through the Saturday concerts, in he collaborated with the Domcantorij directed by Remco de Grasse. He has made many recordings, including a recording of the complete organ works of Felix Mendelssohn, the Chorale Partitas of J.S. Bach and a recent CD of works by César Franck, including the “Trois Chorals”. Jan Jansen is also a much sought continuo player and he works as a teacher and correpetitor of general theoretical courses at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (conservatory) in Utrecht.
