Об исполнителе:
British conceptual artist (b. 1969, Leicester); currently based in Berlin, Germany. Jonathan Monk creates unorthodox "minimalist" and "conceptual" art across various mediums and disciplines. He has collaborated with Douglas Gordon, Dave Allen, Ross Sinclair and other established UK artists. Monk earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Leicester Polytechnic in 1988, followed by a Master's from Glasgow School Of Art in 91. Since the early 1990s, Monk had numerous solo exhibitions at Centre For Contemporary Arts, Glasgow, Museum Kunst Palast, London's Institute Of Contemporary Arts, Musée D'Art Moderne De La Ville De Paris, Artpace San Antonio and other prestigious venues. Monk's works frequently challenge and disrupt the traditional conventions of "distribution" and "valuation" of artwork in the contemporary art world. In 2014, he left a unique author's collage on each seat for his public talk at Dia Art Foundation. Monk also had a Receipt Drawings series, selling hand-drawn copies of his dinner restaurant checks to the first bidder on his Instagram account (for the price of the meal). Jonathan Monk created several musical and "non-music" projects. In 2003, he collaborated with San Francisco-based post-rock/experimental band Tarentel, providing a limited-edition artwork for Latency / Every Scratch Tells A Story LP released by En/Of. Monk also produced The Cut LP, which carries no grooves and only has a few razorblade cuts. He contributed backing vocals to Kevin Rowland's conceptual "pop-rock/ballad" album My Beauty, released in 1999 by Creation Records.
