British NWOBHM band from Nottingham formed in 1982. During the band's initial run, they garnered much notoriety for their over-the-top performances but struggled to attract label attention, releasing only one obscure single and handful of demos. A record deal was signed with Mausoleum Records in 1986 but label went bankrupt mere weeks after the agreement was made, leading guitarist Kev Bower to quit the band. The band replaced Bower and continued on briefly but the 1987 suicide of guitarist/vocalist David G. Halliday effectively ended the band. Hell had had a profound effect and influence on Andy Sneap: aside from being a fan of the band, he had learned how to play guitar from David G. Halliday and the two formed enough of a friendship that Halliday left both his equipment and the rights to his music to Sneap in his will. Sneap would co-found the band Sabbat (2) in the mid 1980s and later become a very prominent and in-demand record producer. Sneap eventually became reacquainted with the surviving original members of Hell and, in 2008, the band decided to regroup, with Sneap taking up Halliday's guitar duties. Initially, the band started working with Sabbat's vocalist Martin Walkyier but it was quickly decided that he was not the right fit. Instead, band ended up recruiting Kev Bower's younger brother, David (a professional actor known by his stage name David Beckford) to handle the vocals. In 2011, Hell released their first full-length, "Human Remains", which consisted primarily of music composed during the band's initial run. A follow-up, "Curse and Chapter", was released in 2013.
