Naomi Judd (born Diana Ellen Judd; January 11, 1946 – April 30, 2022) was an American country music singer, songwriter and book author. She also acted in several made-for-TV and other low budget films. Judd hosted a variety of limited-run radio and TV shows throughout the final decades of her life. She and her eldest daughter Wynonna formed the country music duo The Judds around 1983. Throughout the years, the mother-daughter duo scored fifteen #1 hits. The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2021. Judd is also mother to movie actress and noted activist Ashley Judd. Naomi Judd was a native of Ashland, Kentucky but had been a resident of Tennessee since her mid 30s. At the age of 76, Naomi Judd died by suicide on April 30, 2022, just hours before being formally inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Nashville.
