Roger Mainwood

Roger Mainwood was born on July 31, 1953, in Canterbury, Kent, England. Mainwood’s career began in 1979 when, not long out of art school, he directed an animated video for German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk’s single "Autobahn" at the renowned UK animation company Halas and Batchelor (Halas and Batchelor Cartoon Films). He is known for his work on Ethel & Ernest (2016), Stressed Eric (1998), and Heavy Metal (1981). 'Ethel & Earnest' was nominated for 'Best Animated Feature Film' in the 2017 30th European Film Awards. He died on September 20, 2018, and is survived by his wife, Valerie (nee Jones), a musician, and their daughters, Naomi and Miriam.
