Thom Hine

Barbershop bass vocalist. Born on August 19, 1935 in Martinsville, Indiana, Thom began his barbershopping at age 14 when his shop teacher asked him to form a barbershop quartet and the rest is history. Thom was a 64-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society singing in several quartets such as the Midnight Oilers and the Four Henchman. He also was a two-time Dixie District quartet champion with Atlanta Forum (1991) and Atlanta Power Company (1993). He also won a seniors gold medal as the bass of Old Kids On The Block. Thom also directed the Big Chicken Chorus of Georgia for a period of time and was a member of the Atlanta Vocal Project. Thom died on December 28, 2014 at the age of 79 after a long battle with cancer.
