Dave Mothersole

Taking his early influences from the beach parties, that so amazed him in Goa, India, during the middle-to-late 1980s, and combining them with the original spirit of acid house, started DJ’ing in 1990. His first residency was at the legendary Hard Club, in London’s Soho, where he played EBM (electronic body music) and new beat (Belgian electronic dance music genre). He then made a name for himself in the 1990s, in the early London tech house scene, playing at parties like Wiggle, and Heart and Soul. He quickly developed a style that defied categorisation, by seamlessly fusing deep soulful techno, gritty bass line fuelled house, and ethereal otherworldly electro. Unpredictable but always exciting, his driving techy rhythms, emotive melodies, and psychedelic sounds, have seen him captivate crowds at many of the world’s leading clubs. Like Ministry of Sound (London), Fabric (London), The End (London), Zouk (Singapore), Amnesia (Ibiza), Love-e (São Paulo), Fuse (Brussels), Dance Valley (Holland) and Homelands (Ireland), having taken his unique sound to parties in over 50 different countries. Production wise released over 20 records on labels like Eukahouse, Intrinsic Design, Bleep43 Recordings, and has put out 4 groundbreaking mix compilation CD’s. Dave is also a talented music journalist, who has written for publications like Jockey Slut, Mixmag, Melody Maker, and Muzik, writing monthly techno columns. As a broadcaster, he spent 6 years at London’s biggest independent radio station, Kiss 100, where he had a weekly 2-hour show, before moving to Ministry of Sound Radio. Maker of a fine mix ‘Unveiling the Secret – The Roots of Trance, 14 April 2014, Bleep43’, that is very important in terms of music history, that is so easily and often forgotten, with an accompanying essay. Between 2009–2016, he has been hosting regular mixes on Proton Radio, and lives in Worthing, on the South coast, United Kingdom.
