Pop-rock singer born in Sabadell, Spain, on Sept. 28, 1964. Dalma is known for his soulful, raspy vocal style, reportedly influenced by James Brown(!). Immensely popular in his native country, he has topped Spain's official Productores de Música de España national album chart eight times, including an unbroken string of five No. 1 albums between 2008 and 2013. His fame extends throughout Latin America and Spanish-speaking regions of the United States. In 1991, he represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Bailar Pegados." He finished in fourth place, and the single introduced him to Hispanic audiences in the United States, where the song peaked at No. 6 on the U.S. Hot Latin Tracks chart in Billboard.
