Jimmy Plates

A South London based DJ and producer, Jimmy Plates has been an avid Hip Hop head for over 20 years and is known as one of London's more respected and knowledgeable record dealers [also collector and digger]. Already an accomplished DJ "Plates" decided to look for a new challenge and focused his attention towards beat-making in the late 90's. After honing his skills and clocking up several production credits on independent Hip Hop releases, Jimmy Plates exploded onto the scene with his 2003 debut 12" "Big Rigs" / "Tasty Kakes". This double "A" sided single featured the vocal talents of Philadelphia rap crew Endevers and won rave reviews in magazines on both sides of the Atlantic topping both U.S. independent and U.K. Hip Hop charts simultaneously! Feeling equally at home recording on either side of the "pond" Plates continues to work with both U.S. and U.K. artists, as well as producing music beds for London's hottest urban radio shows [most notably Choice FMs "Friday Night Flavas"] licensed music to Global Underground and for various soundtracks such as "Fear Of Death By Falling" a short film released in 2004. Not just limiting his musical talents to the underground Plates has also been the man behind some of the hottest "street" remixes in recent years of artists such as Destinys Child, Missy Elliot and Kelis earning numerous club spins, mixtape appearances and playlists on radio stations diverse as Kiss and XFM.
