theKI fuses rock, neo-soul and funk, and was formed by singer Roxie Sakura & bassist/producer Lucas Francis. The concept behind theKI refers to the Japanese term for the oneness of all life, "Ki". This theme of connection is explored throughout theKI’s self-titled debut album, released 9/15/15, & features a collective of LA musicians united for change. The album's lyrics are derived from the teachings of ancient and modern spiritual leaders, including Eckhart Tolle and Buddha. theKI received $25K in Kickstarter crowd-funding. Mixed & mastered at Capitol Records. theKI performs for many humanitarian benefits & awareness events, including as headliners for Eve Ensler's One Billion Rising event in Los Angeles hosted by the UN Women. In 2015 theKI received a certificate of recognition from the City of Los Angeles for their outreach efforts in "changing the lives of many."
