1888/08/28 - 1990/03/17 Ulysses "Slow Kid" Thompson (August 28, 1888 – March 17, 1990) was a comedian, singer, tap and acrobatic dancer whose nickname was inspired by his ability to perform a comical, and incredibly slow, dance routine. His career included work in circus, medicine, minstrel, vaudeville, and Broadway. Thompson was married 4 times. The end of his 1st marriage is unknown, but he outlived the other 3. His second wife was singer, Florence Mills. And his 4th wife was Dr. Gertrude Curtis, the widow of Cecil Mack, noted in her own right as New York's first black woman dentist.
