Borrowing its name from the famous academic choir Orphei Drängar, Bacchi Drängar was formed in Uppsala, Sweden, in the mid-1980's. With the initial group members (i.e. Carl Nordlund, Mikael Karlsson, Hans Dahlberg and Magnus Söderlund) remained in the band, additional members (such as Petter Meirik, Gustav v.d. Bussche, Magnus Hagberg) came and went during its approximately 7 active years. Mainly playing their own compositions, such as Kermit, Guatemala rock, Tequila on the run, Bacchus Rappus, Führerschein, Epilog etc, Bacchi Drängar also explored and experimented with a broad range of covers on their gigs, e.g. Run to you (Bryan Adams), Close to me (The Cure), and Come together (Beatles). Bacchi Drängar played at several Katterock music festivals and participated in the Monsters of Pop festival in Uppsala in the early 1990's. Although playing a fairly conventional setup with drums, organ, two guitars and bass, and the occasional didjeridoo, band members also created several keyboard studio pieces (particulary using Roland MT-32). The final track released was Epilogue, a nostalgic flashback on the band's history and the inevitable dissolution as the members grew up.
