Об исполнителе:
Jacques Boquay (c. 1680—19 May 1730), or Bocquay, was a French luthier, half-brother to Louis Guersan, one of the leading violin-makers in Paris at the time, alongside Claude Pierray. Boquay opened his first workshop on rue d'Argenteuil in 1712, relocating closer to Notre Dame, on rue de la Juiverie, in 1725. Like Pierray, he primarily worked with "Grand Amati" models, using locally-sourced wood. As he mastered very authentic 'a-la Cremonese' varnish, some of Boquay's instruments, especially cellos, were sold later with faux labels of renowned Italian luthiers.
