Marquinhos Gomes

Marcos Luiz Ferreira Gomes was born in the Largo do Tanque neighborhood, located in Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro, on July 9, 1971. He was the first child in a family with two brothers - Moisés and Miquéias. The boy, who would later be known nationally as Marquinhos Gomes, was born into a Christian home and learned from an early age from his parents, Luiz Gomes and Vanilda Ferreira Gomes, both pastors at the Jardim Marilice Assembly of God in Nova Iguaçu (RJ), the references that grounded him in the Word of God. Marquinhos' main school was the Renascer Youth Choir of the Penha Assembly of God, conducted by Zênio de Alencar, and he quickly attracted people's attention with his unmistakable voice. He began his musical career in 1991 in the group Grupo Altos Louvores. Marquinhos caught the group's attention because of the anointing he brought with him through his voice and his inseparable instrument, the saxophone. He then became one of the group's main voices. He marked a generation with compositions such as "Lembranças", "Lágrimas no Olhar" and "Passo Certo". Recognized for his compositions, he has been interpreted by big names such as Carlinhos Felix, Fernanda Brum, Aline Barros, Marina De Oliveira, among others. Hailed by the media and the public as "the singer of the century" for having a considerable discography with titles such as: "General de Guerra", "Tudo Posso", "Cinco Anos ao Vivo", "Deus Faz", "Um Escolhido", "Presença de Deus" and "Revela a Tua Face", with "Tudo Posso" being the best-selling album of his career, awarded as the best-selling album of the year in the national gospel market (over one million copies). He has also won awards for best singer, best arrangement, best composition and song of the year for his song "Rei da Glória" (King of Glory). In the singer's own opinion, this is the recognition of a job well done and of a ministry given into his hands by God. With the main objective of blessing lives that are hopeless and downcast, Marquinhos is launching the ninth CD of his solo career, entitled "He Doesn't Give Up on You". "I believe that these songs given by the Holy Spirit will bring comfort, peace and joy to those going through difficulties. If for some reason you are disbelieving, you have lost the meaning of your life, believe that if the whole world has turned its back on you, the Lord Jesus is by your side," adds the singer. Marquinhos Gomes also believes that the songs will touch the hearts of the saved, bringing a blessing and uplifting message to their lives. For the millions of brothers and sisters in Christ and companions who follow his journey, he leaves the following verse: "Can a woman forget her child so much that she does not pity him, the son of her womb? But though she forget him, yet I, the Lord, will not forget you." (Isaiah 49.15.)
