Tombee grew up on the out-skirts of London, in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, listening to old skool hardcore and early Drum & Bass on pirate radio stations such as kool, Pluse, Rush and Don FM. He started Dj-ing himself in 1992 and then moved to Newcastle aged 16 in 1996. It was here he got his first taste of production when he moved into a flat with some local music students who pooled their kit to set up a joint studio in the house. Later he returned down south and went on to teach scratch skills at various DJ work shops, and also ran a commercial music studio back in London, called The Centre. He started to help promote a local night called Open that later became the Monday club, with a local promoter called Hansi. Hansi had some experience with putting out music and together the pair put out a record; Tombee's 1st. It was a joint effort under the guise of Tobe Le Rhone vs. Double Oh Sven, with 2 Tombee tracks on one side and 2 tracks from Hansi on the other. At this time he was also a Scratch DJ in a local band called Voda Cola who also put a record out. Tombee returned to Newcastle some years later. And it was in the North East, while helping run a club night called Betterdays, that he met Diesler (of Tru Thoughts) when he came to play for them one night. Tombee later sent Diesler a CDR copy of a track he'd done, as he was convinced by the reactions he got to it, that it would sell well. Diesler suggested getting in touch with a label called Jack To Phono records and gave him a contact name there. Amelie in Dub was put out in 2006 and since then he has continued to produce and remix material for the Label.
