Mario Oltra

Chilean composer and singer. Humberto Mario Oltra Blanco, known in the artistic environment as Mario Oltra, was born in Talca on November 27, 1913. He dedicated several years of his life to singing as a soloist, accompanied by an orchestra, touring through the National territory and Argentina. On September 18, 1938, he founded with Alejandro Angeloni, the group "Los Provincianos" which would achieve national and international renown for the quality of its compositions. Among the musical compositions of Don Mario Oltra there are cuecas, tangos, boleros, corridos, hymns and some valses. Among his most outstanding compositions are “Mi casa de campo”, “El castañero”, “Recuerdos de un veterano”, “Amada”, “A la sombra del Maitén”, “Perdido Amor”, “Canción a San Javier”, "Himno a la primera Cía. de Bomberos” y “Talca Mi tierra Hermosa”.
