Heinrich Grenser

Heinrich Grenser (5 Mar 1764—12 Dec 1813) was a prolific German instrument-maker, one of the best-known representatives of the Grenser family. He apprenticed to his uncle, A. Grenser at the Dresden workshop in 1779–'86, eventually inheriting the business after his uncle retired. There are an estimated 127 surviving instruments, mostly bassoons or flutes, as well as basset horns, clarinets, oboes, fagottini, and singular examples of bass clarinet, cor anglais, oboe d'amore, bass horn, contrabassoon, hunting horn, and recorder.
