Fleadh is an Irish folk - band from the Rhine-Neckar region in Germany . The repertoire consists of traditional and original instrumental pieces and songs . Fleadh was founded in 1997 by Frank Weber, Uli Schmidt as well as Tina and Stefan Zobel. In 2001 Tina and Stefan Zobel left the band . They were replaced by Angela Breuer ( vocals ) and Thomas Gorny ( guitar ). In this occupation, the first was in 2003 EP Irish Songs'n'Tunes added. In 2006 Ulrich Schmidt left the band and was replaced by Frank Dürschner ( banjo , mandolin ). 2008 was followed the next reshuffle Angela Breuer left the group. Marcus Eichenlaub ( fiddle ) as well as the Irish singer-songwriter Saoirse Mhór and guest singer Anna Hachulla joined the band. In 2010 the band released their first album Humpy and Lumpy , which received several positive reviews . That same year, she performed at the Rhein-Neckar Fernsehen in Mannheim and won first place at the German Rock and Pop Award in the category Best folk rock band . In the next two years Fleadh appeared at several folk festivals , including the TFF Rudolstadt , the Balver Höhle and at the Folk im Schlosshof . In 2013 the band released their second album The Cleggan Bay Disaster . It includes u. a. five songs written by Saoirse Mhór. Founding member Uli Schmidt was again a guest musician on the recordings . The official release took place on February 1, 2013 in Newbridge ( Co. Kildare ), the hometown of Saoirse Mhór. In the same week two Irish radio stations (Connemara Community Radio and Kildare KFM) broadcast features on Fleadh. The international press reacted with clearly positive reviews of the album. Since May 2013, Fleadh usually appears with a bassist . Karl Schramm is the guest musician in this function. Fleadh at the Folk am Neckar 2014 Fleadh at the Folk am Neckar 2014 Another appearance on Rhein-Neckar TV followed in July 2013, as well as winning first place in the joint music competition organized by BASF and the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Thomas von Haefen has been a permanent bassist with Fleadh since 2014 . In the summer of 2017, Frank Dürschner was replaced by Daniel Draxler ( banjo , mandolin , background vocals ). At the end of 2018, Saoirse Mhór and Fleadh will part ways. New singer was composed of Co. Donegal native singer-songwriter John P. Kennedy (JP). Bassist Thomas von Haefen also leaves the band. In 2019, individual concerts will still be performed with Saoirse Mhór and Thomas von Haefen. JP Kennedy has to stop again in 2019 for health reasons. Miriam Burkardt becomes the new singer.
