Frédéric Pattar

After studying piano, composition (with Gilbert Amy at the National Conservatory of Lyon) and electro-acoustic music, Frédéric Pattar took the musical computing degree course at IRCAM 1999/2000). His catalogue boasts some hundred works (solo pieces, ensemble music, electronic, melodrama, vocal scores, stage music, pedagogical works...) with a considerable proportion devoted to chamber music. For several years now, he has collaborated closely with the L’Instant Donné, C Barré, and Cairn ensembles, Arditti Quartet, the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart… Frédéric Pattar pays particular attention to the articulation between music, text, and visual performance. His taut, contrasted music expounds an uncompromising language without refusing a certain lyricism, and concealing a veritable dramatic intensity. Driving elements in Frédéric Pattar‘s works, the rhythmic flux break in successive waves and knock the harmonic fabric about, thereby creating sound perspectives as evident as they are unexpected.
