Ugo Casiglia (b. 1959) is an Italian instrument-maker, restorer, organist and musician, who specialized in harpsichords, fortepianos, and clavichords. Born in Palermo in 1959, Ugo began playing piano at the age of 11. He further studied organ and organ composition with Eliodoro Sollima at Palermo Conservatory. After graduating, Casiglia moved to L'Aquila and received more teachings from Giorgio Carnini. He pursued additional organ studies at Musikhochschule München with Prof. Klemens Schnorr. In 1985, Ugo Casiglia opened his workshop, the first in central-southern Italy, in Cinisi to build historical keyboard instruments. Casiglia's harpsichords appeared on recordings for such labels, as Stradivarius, Opus 111, Bongiovanni, and Symphonia. A few notable performers include: Kenneth Gilbert, Gustav Leonhardt, Costantino Mastroprimiano, Malcolm Bilson, Claudio Astronio, Bob van Asperen, Ottavio Dantone, Enrico Baiano, Rinaldo Alessandrini, and Emilia Fadini.
