Venezuelan Singer CHARITO was born Sara Sertal on October 5, 1950 in Pontevedra, Spain into a Spanish-Jewish family. She was a popular music singer and was heard in the earliest discotecas in LATAM. At the age of 7 she and her family moved to Venezuela. In 1967 she debuted as a soloist on the Amalia Pérez Díaz program on Channel 2, where she was discovered by Renny Ottolina. In 1968, she appeared on TV in "The Renny Show". In 1969 she participated in the I Festival Internacional de Caracas and receive 3rd place for "Ahora". In the V Festival de la Canción Moderna she took 2nd place with "Ya no sé soñar". In 1970 she participated in the II Festival de La Voz de Oro de Venezuela with "Cuando nace el amor" and took 3rd place at the 4th Miami Festival in the USA with "El extraño y la flor". She got married and retired from the the music business. She has collaborated with Sandro and with Ray Charles. She has recorded three LP's and three 45rpm. Hits: “El juego del amor”, “Molino al viento”, and “No te ilusiones”. She died in May 2017 in Venezuela.
