Eckankar

Eckankar was formed in Chicago and their sole album was recorded in Boston and released in 1971. Kestutis Stanciauskas recalls: "Robert Long, Robert Shumps Mortier and I started a band in Chicago called Eckankar (nothing to do with the weird spiritual wave then). We ended up on the road in Boston where we recorded an album, “Eckankar”. The album was named after a dream that I had, 'Bee Fat Boogie Morning Dream Legends' (Hey – it was the era). The band broke up, and I ended up back in Chicago." There is a religion founded by Paul Twitchell in 1965 called Eckankar. Music is a big part the Church and the 'E' on the back on the Eckankar's album cover is very similar to the Church logo's 'E.' Presumably this is the 'weird spiritual wave' that Stanciauskas is referring to in the above quote.
