Elyse Yancey

Elyse Yancey was a gospel singer and member of the original Robert Anderson And His Gospel Caravan. From 1951 to 1954, she served in Albertina Walker’s The Caravans (2). Elyse sang lead on a number of songs recorded by the former group, such as: “When I Get Home” and “Count Your Blessings.” Her singing style can be considered reminiscent of the influences of Mahalia Jackson and Roberta Martin.
