Norwegian sound and video engineer, and studio owner, 1933-2003. A pioneer and innovator in audio and video in Norway: he helped develop the first Norwegian tape recorder, Proton; in 1959 he recorded Norway's first stereo soundtrack for the movie "Jakten"; he was the first in Scandinavia to start cassette production; and in 1972 he made Norway's first quadraphonic record. In 1962 he founded the studio Roger Arnhoff Lydstudio (later Roger Arnhoff Studio A/S). The company went bankrupt in 1987, taking with it the last remaining Norwegian pressing plant Hønepress A/S which it had acquired in 1983. From 1992 and until his retirement in 2000 he was employed at Norway's National Library, where he started and ran the Media Laboratory. After his retirement in 2000, he received the King's Medal Of Merit in gold.
