Born Houston, Texas 1947. An award-winning artist who has blazed his own trail as a songwriter, singer, musician, composer, screenwriter and poet, J.C. Crowley is an American original. After a series of rugged jobs ranging from ranch hand in Texas to forest-fire fighter and boat pilot in Alaska, the fourth-generation Texan co-founded pop-rock band Player. He made two gold albums with the band and co-wrote its No. 1 single, “Baby Come Back” (1978), which continues to be featured in movies, TV shows and national ad campaigns. As a solo act in the 1980s, Crowley broke new ground with “Paint the Town and Hang the Moon Tonight,” a rockabilly roof-shaker that climbed to No. 13 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Over the years, Crowley has penned songs recorded by such artists such as Johnny Cash, Smokey Robinson, Guy Clark, Emmylou Harris and Charlie Wilson. He recently branched out into composing for film and television productions.
