Börje Mårelius

Swedish flutist, born June 9, 1920 in Malmö, died October 17, 1998 in Stockholm. He studied at the Stockholm Conservatory of Music 1939–1941, was involved in the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra 1950–1955 and was a solo flutist in the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra 1955–1981. He was a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music 1972–1976. Mårelius was a member of the Radio Symphony Orchestra's wind quintet. He was elected member 825 of the Royal Academy of Music on December 13, 1979. Mårelius appeared in the film "Fanny and Alexander", directed by Ingmar Bergman, and in the TV series "Dårfinkar och dönickar", directed by Rumle Hammerich.
