David Gibbs is a corps Director, Drum Major, Instructor, Teacher, Performer and Designer at The Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps of Concord, CA. David Gibbs performed in The Blue Devils from 1974 through 1977. In 1978, David became the Drum Major, a position that he held until his age out year of 1980. David joined the "A" Corps and Winter Guard staffs when he aged out, and over the next ten years he was a part of the visual staff as an instructor and visual designer. In addition to his work with The Blue Devils over that ten-year span, David worked with Live Oak High School, Valley Fever Drum & Bugle Corps, Tokyo's Soka Renaissance Vanguard, and many other bands, corps and winter guards around the country. He also traveled throughout the country and the world presenting clinics. In 1991, David became the third Director of The Blue Devils and served as the CEO of the organization through 2015. He continued leading The Blue Devils 'A' corps through the 2019 season. David has been a performer, teacher, designer and director for all 19 world championships and under his leadership the corps has won 13 of their 19 world championships. David is currently Senior Executive Advisor of BDPA (Blue Devils Performing Arts). He has served for three years as Chairman of the Board for Drum Corps International and has been a member of the Executive and Finance committees for DCI. He was voted in to the DCI Hall of Fame in 2002.
