Luis-Emilio Rodriguez Carrington is a renowned Mexican archetier who works in The Hague, Netherlands. He is one of the world's leading specialists on historical and Baroque-era bows. Luis Emilio makes bespoke, custom bows for violins, violas, cellos, basses, viola da gambas, and other types of stringed instruments. He invented a 'Trick Twig' adjusting mechanism, introducing a typical contemporary feature (to instantly slacken or tighten the bow's hair with an internal mantis screw for varying temperature, humidity, or specific performance tasks) in the pre-1750 historical bows. (This authentic design follows so-called Fin-de-Siècle 'End-of-the-Century' bows, or "Archet mexicain de la fin du Vingtième Siècle"—a Mexican bow of the end of the Twentieth Century). In 2017–'18, the Victoria And Albert Museum displayed Luis-Emilio's 2014 [I]Baroque violin bow alongside authentic 17-cent. instruments at the 'Opera: Passion, Power & Politics' exhibition in London.
