Marvin Schlachter

Music industry veteran, president and label head who was once A&R vice president at Scepter Records and Wand in their successful Dionne Warwick / BJ Thomas period. For a time he was the president of Janus Records. He left Janus and sold his holdings in Scepter to label founder Florence Greenberg in 1969 to become President of the newly-opened US division of Pye International. When Pye shuttered American operations in 1976, Schlacter launched the Prelude Records label, which was named after one of the more successful Pye acts.
