Archie Lee (2)
Настоящее имя: Archie Lee (2)
Об исполнителе:
Rapper & Producer from Rosewood, Houston, Texas. Archie Lee has been rapping since 1993 alongside longtime friend Lester Roy, and making beats since 1998. Not to be confused with Archie Lee of the same name from the Herschelwood Hardheadz, "he's the real Archie Lee". In 1994 Lester Roy and Archie Lee hooked up with Michael Watts to rap on his mixtapes. By 1995, they were freestyling and selling tapes out of the trunk of their cars in parking lots and noticed how quick those tapes were moving. One thing lead to another and they formed a little clique, and began performing at shows around Houston. Michael Watts, Lester Roy, Archie Lee, and two others sat down, and in 1997 formed the Swishahouse record label. For his contributions to the group, his un-credited production of Swishahouse's 1999 debut album "The Day Hell Broke Loose", he earned a spot for the first solo album out of Swishahouse, releasing "Da Mista Masta" in the same year. The iconic "Mista Masta" title stuck and he soon later helped with production on Big Tiger's debut album "I Came To Wreck", afterwards he and Lester Roy joined Iceman Q's "Break Yo Sef Records" label in the early 2000's, giving him a prominent role at the label, giving him a chance to chop and screw some of his own tracks. After a beef with Killa Kez at Break Yo Sef, he stepped back and started focusing more on his own label "Gorilla Funk Recordz" at the time, sampling, producing, mixing, rapping, and with help from Lester Roy and his label "Wreckin Da Scene Entertainment", distribution and manufacturing. He formed the group "Da Gorilla. Funk. Click" with Lester Roy, Papa Smurf, and Ace Nate (who is also Papa Smurf's younger brother), and put out several mixtapes and albums. He started becoming more involved, again with Swishahouse in 2005, when the label began revamping before getting nationwide distribution deals with Asylum. He put out his self-titled mixtape in 2005, and later "Da Comeback Kid". When Lil' Keke joined Swishahouse in the mid-2000's, they all freestyled on several of Michael Watts' mixtapes, alongside Coota Bang and Paul Wall, and in 2007 he and Coota Bang put out "Hood Theory" to great success. Since, Archie Lee has featured in multiple collaborations with Lester Roy, and still features on Swishahouse albums and mixtapes alongside Coota Bang, E-Class and Yung Redd as well as Lil' Keke and Paul Wall.
