Swedish violinist and composer, born 1720 (or possibly 1721) in Hudiksvall, died 7 May 1781 in Uppsala. He studied law at Uppsala University, where he became a master of philosophy in 1744, and then moved to Stockholm where he got a job as a violinist in the Hovkapellet. He got to know the German composer Johann Gottlieb Naumann, and they traveled together to Italy to study with the violinist Giuseppe Tartini in 1758-1763. After the study trip, he began to appear alongside the service in the Hovkapellet as a prominent solo violinist both in Sweden and abroad. He spent his last years as an organist and music teacher at Gävle gymnasium. From being an internationally recognized violin virtuoso, he ended his life in deep decay.
