"Good Morning Glory" hit #12 in 1933 and "I'll String Along with You" hit #17 in 1934. Tom Coakley was a West Coast bandleader on the verge of superstar success when he left music, in April 1936, to pursue a law career. He was only thirty-one at the time, and never returned to the industry. First he became a lawyer, then a judge in California. Coakley had a radio show on NBC. Hotel ballrooms served as the prime site of Coakley and his orchestra's performances. In April 1936, Coakley turned leadership of the orchestra over to Carl Ravazzo, who changed the name and added singer/actress Carole Landis.
