Jimmy "Joy" Maloney

American Jazz bandleader, conductor, and arranger, active from the 1920s to 1940s. Born: 20 April 1902 in Commerce, Texas, USA. Died: 7 March 1962 in Dallas, Texas, USA. He also played alto saxophone and clarinet. One of his claims to fame was that he could play two clarinets at the same time. In 1921, his band started playing at the Joyland Park in Galveston, Texas and park management billed the band as Jimmy Joy. By the 1930s, he was performing weekly on a half hour jazz concert over the San Antonio WOAI radio station and on the big time vaudeville circuit.
