(b. 29 May 1939) in Melbourne, Australia, Peter (or Pete as he is also known), has worked in both Australian Radio and Television for his entire career. A well known personality, Pete is more famous for his voice than his face. His “in front TV” career has included a hosting role on ABC TV’s [I][B]Sports View Hit Parade[/B][/I] and special guest parts in [I][B]The Late show[/B][/I]. Switching to GTV 9 (Channel 9) early in his career, he has provided voice overs for numerous shows including:[B][I]In Melbourne Tonight, The Graham Kennedy Show, The Don Lane Show, Sale Of The Century, Temptation[/I][/B] and [B][I]Family Feud[/I][/B]. He is also the voice of the station, providing his voice to promotions and station annoncements. Pete has also worked on a number of radio shows during his career but his appearances on [B][I]Martin/Molloy[/I][/B] and subsequent spin off’s [B][I]Get This[/B][/I] (with Tony Martin) and [B][I]Tough Love[/B][/I] (with Mick Molloy) has seen him become more popular with the younger audience. His relationship with Tony and Mick has also led to walk on roles in their films [B][I]Crackerjack[/B][/I] as a passerby and [B][I]Bad Eggs[/B][/I] as a Police Officer. In 14 June 2004 Peter Smith was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for service to the community.
